Info

Silo (2025) by rastro is a light art installation that reanimates an inactive industrial structure through light, sound, and memory.

Developed inside a shut-down section of a recycling factory, the project transforms a dormant machine into a reactive spatial organism. What once functioned as static infrastructure becomes an active architecture a system where data, vibration, and atmosphere converge to generate real-time responses to sound. All audio was originally composed in Ableton Live, forming the emotional and structural backbone of the piece.

The reactive behavior of the installation was programmed using TouchDesigner, allowing light patterns and spatial modulation to shift dynamically according to frequency, amplitude, and sonic texture. The lighting system entirely designed and built by rastro was controlled via MIDI interfaces to ensure precise synchronization between sound and visual output. Rather than operating as a passive spectacle, Silo behaves as a responsive memory container. Sound shapes space. Light registers what passes through it. The installation oscillates between presence and residue between what is heard in the moment and what lingers after.
